WEDDING PHOTOJOURNALISM EXPLAINED
The style of wedding photography referred to as wedding photojournalism is popular for good reason. Also known as wedding documentary, it is an approach to documenting a wedding day without interrupting the natural flow. By documenting activities and natural expressions you are able to capture real moments. The look of wedding documentary photography is timeless because its real and has the power to transport you to the moment. By avoiding staged photos and posing subjects you also avoid cliches and gimmicks that will eventually date images and often look contrived.
Most of the photos I deliver feature subjects who aren't camera aware. If requested I can adhere to a strict photojournalism approach however I usually do request that we set aside time in the day for portraits and organized group photos just for posterity and because without a little organization you may never get a photo with certain groups together in one image. However, my favorite photos tend to be candid photos that fall into the classification of wedding photojournalism.
